The 59-year-old model and style icon has finished penning her third book, titled Parisian Chic Look Book: What Should I Wear Today?, which offers readers a guide to French dressing. In it she lists 20 big clothing mistakes she’s made in her life, but Ines insists each slip up proves people are willing to break boundaries with their ensembles.
“Everyone should make some fashion faux pas! It means you try and that you aren’t lazy,” she told Allure magazine. “Good taste all the time would be boring. However, I remember once I borrowed a long leather dress from a designer. I wore it with long gloves to go to a party. I looked like an iron craftsman – immediately I felt so bad, I stayed only three minutes and left! In the end, it is always better to buy your own clothes; if you borrow, you wear things you don’t really like.”
Sharing the moment Ines realised she’d mastered her own chic aesthetic, the fashion star noted it was when she finally bought something with speed and no hesitation. To avoid confusion the glamorous brunette advises ignoring sales staff’s suggestions and recommends flicking through magazines for inspiration instead.
“Everybody can improve their looks at any age – this is the target. Style is just not wishing to be a fashion victim,” she explained.
“We all have inspirations and icons. It’s funny to see that it has nothing to do with wealth or notoriety, it can be anonymous people: a grandmother, an aunt.”
Her own style idols include actress Jane Birkin and late Hollywood star Katharine Hepburn, along with musician Patti Smith, as they all rock the androgynous trend effortlessly.Read more at:www.marieaustralia.com/backless-formal-dresses | www.marieaustralia.com/one-shoulder-formal-dresses
